Softball Recap: East Central Gets the Win

East Central took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Rising Sun, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Shiners 9-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Rose Yunger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Paige Hotze was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Broegan Knuz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

East Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Rising Sun, they moved to 15-6 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Central will host Greensburg at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rising Sun, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lawrenceburg at 5:00 p.m.
