Basketball Recap: Gregory Starts off Right with Win over St. Mary's

Gregory gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 54-47 victory over the St. Mary's Cardinals. For the Gorillas, this counts as revenge for the 67-28 win the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Leading Gregory to victory were Dani Vanderwerff and Regan Graesser. Vanderwerff went 9-for-20 on her way to 22 points and seven boards, while Graesser posted 15 points and four steals. Sadie Carlson was another key player, putting up five points.

St. Mary's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Gregory will head out to square off against North Central at 5:00 p.m. on the 20th. As for St. Mary's, they have already played their next contest, a 53-32 victory against Hartington-Newcastle on the 12th.
