Volleyball Recap: Eastern View Takes a Loss

Eastern View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Culpeper County Blue Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in September.

Eastern View wouldn't go down easily and took Culpeper County into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 21-25, 15-9.

Lauren Denham paced Eastern View's offense, picking up 13 kills. Denham got some help from Tatum Caparese and her 12 assists. Denham was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Eastern View's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Culpeper County, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-12.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Eastern View will square off against rival Spotsylvania at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Culpeper County is set to challenge their familiar foe Caroline at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
