Softball Recap: Wartburg Central Comes Up Short

Wartburg Central was the 10-3 winner over Oliver Springs when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell 9-5 to the Bobcats on Monday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shelby Kelly put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Bradlee Sexton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Wartburg Central's record is now 10-8. As for Oliver Springs, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-11.

Wartburg Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oliver Springs, they will challenge Coalfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
