Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for St. Helena

St. Helena had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Kelseyville Knights as they made off with a 12-2 victory. That's two games straight that the Saints have won by exactly ten runs.

Tahlia Smith and Ada Blanton made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Smith pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Blanton didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Smith has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Smith scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Blanton scored three runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, Blanton posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Lund, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emily Glakeler, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.

St. Helena's record is now 9-4. As for Kelseyville, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, St. Helena will face off against Middletown at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Saints are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Kelseyville, they will square off against Upper Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
