Baseball Game Preview: Thousand Oaks Lancers vs. Westlake Warriors

For the second straight game, Thousand Oaks will face off against Westlake. The Lancers will host the Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Thousand Oaks fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Westlake on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to the Warriors, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Lancers have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Jaden Kolkowski was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Thousand Oaks saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Luderer, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Westlake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Thousand Oaks, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
