Basketball Recap: Spoto Spartans vs. Hillsborough Terriers

The Spoto Spartans lost against the Hillsborough Terriers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Spoto took a serious blow against the Terriers, falling 74-41. Spoto has struggled against the Terriers recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Spoto's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jose Deleon, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Jerren Rodriguez who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 39% of Spoto's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jared Corgelas was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.

Spoto has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Hillsborough, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spoto will take on the Dragons at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Jefferson is ranked 476th, while the Spartans are ranked 478th). As for Hillsborough, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Knights at 8:00 p.m. on February 1st. Robinson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season.
