Basketball Recap: Seventy-First Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Seventy-First has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 49-42 to the West Charlotte Lions on Saturday. The game marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Charlotte to victory, but perhaps none more so than DJ Williams, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and three blocks. Williams is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. Chase Bryson was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.

Seventy-First's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for West Charlotte, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seventy-First will head out to challenge South View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South View knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Seventy-First likes a good challenge. As for West Charlotte, they will head out on the road to face off against Mallard Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mallard Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.
