Softball Recap: Havelock Rams vs. Southern Lee Cavaliers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Havelock had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Southern Lee Cavaliers as they made off with an 11-1 win. Havelock might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Elana Krupey made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Krupey has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive pitching appearances. Krupey was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and a triple.

In other batting news, NeVaeha George was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI, and a run. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Kramer, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

On Southern Lee's side, Carrie Ellen Bryan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with a home run.

Havelock's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Southern Lee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-9.

Havelock will square off against Scotland on Friday. Scotland is coming into the contest with eight straight wins on the road, so Havelock will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Southern Lee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
