Basketball Recap: Brownsburg Falls Short Against Ranked Plainfield

On Monday, Brownsburg faced Plainfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Brownsburg Bulldogs fell 57-47 to the Plainfield Quakers. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Brownsburg still got an impressive performance from Avery Gordon, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 boards. Gordon is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Brown, who posted six points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Brownsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

Hannah Menser continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Plainfield, going 6 for 14 en route to 17 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Bryleigh Todd, who earned 11 points.

Brownsburg's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4. As for Plainfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.

Brownsburg will square off against Pike at 7:30 p.m. on January 21st. Plainfield has already played their next game (against Bloomington North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
