Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Newman AAA

Newman AAA waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Cushing Academy Penguins by a score of 79-71. This was payback for the Cardinals, who suffered a 55-45 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Newman AAA's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Louis O'Keefe led the charge by going 8-for-18 to rack up 24 points. O'Keefe has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Lucas Morillo was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Newman AAA smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Newman AAA's record now sits at 14-1. As for Cushing Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Newman AAA didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-60 victory against Southeastern RVT on the 19th. Cushing Academy has also already played their next contest (against Vermont Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
