Baseball Game Preview: Union City Soaring Eagles vs. St. Peter's Prep Marauders

For the second straight game, Union City will face off against St. Peter's Prep. The Soaring Eagles will square off against the Marauders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Union City 2.1, St. Peter's Prep 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Union City's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when St. Peter's Prep hitters got past them. The Soaring Eagles came up short against the Marauders on Monday, falling 11-1. The game marked the Soaring Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

For St. Peter's Prep's part, Ray Stein tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave Stein a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Aiden Rosales was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Anthony Huaranga also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

St. Peter's Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union City only posted an OBP of .318.

The win (which was St. Peter's Prep's seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Union City, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.
