Baseball Recap: North Port's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

North Port had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Lehigh on Monday. The Bobcats blew past the Lightning 11-0. Considering the Bobcats' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Stephen Commander and Blake Naylor made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Commander tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Naylor didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Commander scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Naylor scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Commander has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Landon Davidson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. North Port is undefeated when Davidson posts two or more runs, but 6-14 otherwise. Rylan Bradley was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

North Port's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14. As for Lehigh, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.

Coming up, North Port will host Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Green Wave have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Lehigh, they are taking a road trip to challenge East Lee County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
