The Blackfoot Broncos will take on the Vallivue Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Blackfoot is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 33.7 points per game this season.
Vallivue will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Blackfoot extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Broncos strolled past Shelley with points to spare, taking the game 39-21. The Broncos pushed the score to 33-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Russets cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Blackfoot to victory, but perhaps none more so than Austin Arave, who threw for 141 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Cade Esplin helped Arave out on the ground, rushing for 124 yards and one score while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
Blackfoot didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Shelley to a completion percentage of just 46.4%. The team can thank Kaeden Fisher for the heroic effort on defense: he. Blackfoot has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.62 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.62 in their last three games.
Meanwhile, Vallivue didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Nampa on Friday, but they still walked away with a 22-17 victory. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Blackfoot better keep an eye on Onix Carson. He was instrumental in Vallivue's win, rushing for 169 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Carson is now averaging an impressive 108.4 rushing yards per game.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Vallivue's defense and their four sacks. Evert Eells refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Vallivue now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Blackfoot, their record is now 6-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Blackfoot has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Vallivue struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 190.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Blackfoot against Vallivue in their previous meeting back in October of 2020, as the squad secured a 42-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
