Columbus North hasn't had much luck against Franklin Community recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bull Dogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Grizzly Cubs at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Tuesday, Columbus North didn't have quite enough to beat Bloomington South and fell 3-2. While the Bull Dogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-20 in the first set.
Columbus North took Bloomington South into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-21, 25-19, 16-25, 15-10.
Meanwhile, Franklin Community didn't have quite enough to beat Danville on Wednesday and fell 3-2.
Franklin Community started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 24-26, 25-21, 25-23, 15-11.
Columbus North's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 17-11. As for Franklin Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Columbus North has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Franklin Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
