Basketball Recap: Zion Christian Academy Comes Up Short

The matchup between Zion Christian Academy and Franklin Road Christian on Thursday hardly resembled the 35-17 effort from their previous meeting. The Zion Christian Academy Eagles lost 71-45 to the Franklin Road Christian Minutemen. The Eagles have struggled against the Minutemen recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin Road Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gracie Tidwell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards Tidwell has posted since back in December of 2024. Lakelyn Dempsey was another key player, going 7 for 12 en route to 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Zion Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Franklin Road Christian, they pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Zion Christian Academy will venture away from home to face off against Franklin Classical School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Franklin Road Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-38 win against Pleasant View Christian on the 24th.
