Volleyball Game Preview: Centerville Elks vs. Worthington Kilbourne Wolves

The Centerville Elks will square off against the Worthington Kilbourne Wolves at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Last Tuesday, Centerville didn't have quite enough to beat Walnut Hills and fell 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Elks in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Centerville took Walnut Hills into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-19, 18-25, 25-20, 15-10.

Centerville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Michael Philip, who had nine digs, two aces, and one block, and Trey Winters, who had 18 digs and four assists. Philip is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 15 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Meanwhile, Worthington Kilbourne got the win against Big Walnut on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

While Worthington Kilbourne won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-23, 25-16.

Centerville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Worthington Kilbourne, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
