Basketball Game Preview: Grassfield Grizzlies vs. Great Bridge Wildcats

The Grassfield Grizzlies will venture away from home to face off against the Great Bridge Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Grassfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Deep Creek, who was ranked 20th at the time (Grassfield was ranked 25th). Grassfield was outmatched by Deep Creek and fell 82-31. The Grizzlies' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Great Bridge got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 56-44 victory over Hickory on Tuesday.

Great Bridge now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Grassfield, their loss ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-2.

Everything came up roses for Grassfield against Great Bridge when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured an 86-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grassfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
