Basketball Recap: Unaka Find Success

Unaka hadn't done well against Hampton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Unaka Rangers had just enough and edged the Hampton Bulldogs out 44-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rangers have posted against the Bulldogs since February 21, 2022.

It was another big night for Michelle Shields, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 27 points. Brooklyn Campbell was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

With the victory, Unaka broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-6. As for Hampton, they moved to 18-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Unaka and Hampton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Unaka will take on University School at 6:30 p.m. on Friday up 208 places (162 vs. 370). Meanwhile, Hampton (ranked 116th) will meet West Greene (ranked 241st) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
