Football Recap: Cabool Takes a Loss

Cabool had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-7 to make it four. They were outmatched by the Ava Bears and fell 56-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 51-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Ava, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. That looming 56-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Ava's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Lane, who rushed for 46 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 19 yards and one TD. Lane didn't just play on offense: he also defended one pass and snagged an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Cabool wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 33-6 loss against Salem on the 24th. As for Ava, they have also already played their next matchup, a 77-36 win against Willow Springs on the 24th.
