Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Rams vs. Johnston City Indians

On Saturday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but the Mt. Vernon Rams had to settle for a 7-5 defeat against the Johnston City Indians. Mt. Vernon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Arwyn Wilkey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-4 with a home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Watson, who went 1-for-3 with a home run.

On Johnston City's side, Peyton Johnson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Johnson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Carmi-White County will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Johnston City surely won't give up without a fight.
