Football Game Preview: South Brunswick Cougars vs. Fairmont Golden Tornadoes

The South Brunswick Cougars will challenge the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Brunswick will be strutting in after a victory while Fairmont will be coming in after a defeat.

South Brunswick was handed a 46-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by South Columbus 28-27.

Jayden Daniels went supernova, throwing for 247 yards and four TDs while completing 74.1% of his passes. South Brunswick is undefeated when Daniels posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. Amerius Revels helped Daniels out on the ground, rushing for 118 yards.

Meanwhile, Fairmont lost to Whiteville at home by a 42-28 margin on Friday. The Golden Tornadoes have struggled against the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Fairmont's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for South Brunswick, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

South Brunswick was dealt a bruising 37-7 loss at the hands of Fairmont in their previous meeting back in September of 2016. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
