Softball Preview: Centennial Cougars vs. Overton Bobcats
The Centennial Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Overton Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Centennial will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
After a 15-10 finish the last time they played, Centennial and Ravenwood decided to play a little more cautiously this time around. Centennial narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Ravenwood 1-0. Despite the win, that was the fewest runs Centennial has scored all season.
Centennial's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ainsleigh Riggs, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Overton scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 19-4 margin over Antioch. The win was just what Overton needed coming off of a 17-4 defeat in their prior game.
Centennial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Overton, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Everything went Centennial's way against Overton in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 as Centennial made off with a 16-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centennial since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
