The Agua Fria Owls are headed away from home for the first time to take on the Goldwater Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with eight losses in a row dating back to last season, Agua Fria turned things around against Shadow Mountain on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Matadors as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Owls not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1, 2024.

Aldo Ohlmaier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, Dylan Lavin was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Aidan Gomez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Agua Fria always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Goldwater). They came out on top against Cortez by a score of 13-8 on Thursday. With that win, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Parker Windom was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Windom was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Carson Corbridge was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Noah Mayberry, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
The victory got Goldwater back to even at 2-2. As for Agua Fria, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Agua Fria might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Goldwater in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Agua Fria avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
