Softball Game Preview: Rockbridge County Wildcats vs. Broadway Gobblers

Rockbridge County hasn't had much luck against Broadway recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Gobblers at 5:00 p.m. The last three games Rockbridge County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Rockbridge County took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against East Rockingham, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats skirted past the Eagles 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since April 4th.

Meanwhile, Broadway had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Trailblazers by a score of 7-2.

Broadway's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Rockbridge County, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
