Baseball Preview: Baptist Prep Eagles vs. Quitman Bulldogs
The Baptist Prep Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Quitman Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Baptist Prep duked it out with McGehee on Thursday. Baptist Prep was the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over McGehee. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.
Baptist Prep got a great performance from Jon Ramirez as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. What's more, Ramirez gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Austin Herring was a standout: he scored five runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Quitman never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mt. Vernon-Enola last Tuesday. They never let the Warhawks get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.
Quitman's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-4. As for Baptist Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Baptist Prep took their win against Quitman in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 by a conclusive 13-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Baptist Prep since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
