Volleyball Recap: Chapman Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Maddison Grubb and Breslyn Francis

Chapman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Abilene Cowboys. The Irish were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cowboys earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Chapman actually scored more points across those three sets (72-71), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 19-25, 27-25, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Chapman had strong showings from Breslyn Francis, who had ten digs and nine assists, and Maddison Grubb, who had seven digs and one assist.

Chapman's defeat dropped their record down to 12-23. As for Abilene, their win bumped their record up to 13-16.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chapman beat the Cowboys by a score of 2-0 later that day.
