Baseball Recap: First Flight Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

The matchup between First Flight and Pasquotank County on Tuesday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Nighthawks blew past the Panthers 19-2. The result was nothing new for the Nighthawks, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ben LaVier looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Everest Ouellette was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Stewart, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4.

First Flight always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pasquotank County only posted an OBP of .300.

The victory (which was First Flight's third in a row) raised their record to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Pasquotank County, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

First Flight will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
