Basketball Recap: Columbus Comes Up Short

Columbus lost against Callaway two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Columbus Falcons had to suffer through a 52-18 loss at the hands of the Callaway Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Chargers are ranked 12th).

Jahanna Wilson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Callaway, going 8 of 15 en route to 18 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Wilson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 23 games she's played. Jernae Ringgold was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Columbus' loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Callaway, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season.

Columbus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 38-37 victory against Neshoba Central on the 7th. As for Callaway, they have also already played their next contest, a 61-37 win against Vicksburg on the 7th.
