The class of 2013 includes a wealth of catchers, but a pitcher from the state of Kentucky tops the list as the best prospect in the class.

Clinton Hollon of Woodford County (Versailles, Ky.), an all-state pick as a sophomore last season, is the No. 1 prospect according to the MaxPreps Top 50 Junior Rankings, presented by New Balance.

He's joined by one other pitcher in the top 10, Keegan Thompson of Cullman (Ala.), who was the Gatorade State Player of the Year.

Catchers take up eight spots in the top 50, topped by the No. 4 recruit Jeremy Martinez of Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.). He's joined in the top 20 by No. 16 Chris Okey of Eustis (Fla.), who was a teammate of Martinez's on the Team USA 18U squad.

Rounding out the top five spots are Austin Meadows of Grayson (Loganville, Ga.), who was the top hitter for the Team USA 16U squad last summer, slick-fielding shortstop Oscar Mercado of Gaither (Tampa, Fla.) and hard-hitting A.J. Balta of Valencia (Calif.).
