Preview: Mountain View Bruins vs. Layton Christian Academy Eagles

The Mountain View Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Layton Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mountain View scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They snuck past Timpanogos with a 74-68 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mountain View.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Conner Fairbanks, who scored 24 points along with six assists and six steals. Simeon Suguturaga was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Layton Christian Academy put the finishing touches on their 12th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Uintah 62-32 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Layton Christian Academy sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Layton Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Vuk Zarubica led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Otavio Armani, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Mountain View has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Layton Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Mountain View hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.2 points per game. However, it's not like Layton Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 67.8 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Mountain View came up short against the Eagles when the teams last played back in January, falling 67-58. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Armani, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Now that Mountain View knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
