Softball Recap: Agoura Drops Season-High Score on Calabasas

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Agoura). They put the hurt on the Calabasas Coyotes with a sharp 30-0 win on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Aly Chavez looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February.

At the plate, Agoura let Mia Gomez and Amaya Del Olmo run wild. Gomez fired off three home runs, ten RBI, and six runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances, while Del Olmo fired off three home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while going 5-for-6. Those five hits gave Del Olmo a new career-high. Login Vinciri also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Agoura hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.

Agoura pushed their record up to 14-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Calabasas, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-15.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Agoura will square off against rival Oaks Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chargers 3.9, the Lions 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Calabasas is set to challenge their familiar foe Newbury Park at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
