Normal Community entered their tilt with Champaign Central on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Maroons. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-4 last Thursday.

Landyn Corbin looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kyle Beaty, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Burkhart, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Normal Community's record is now 8-3. As for Champaign Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Normal Community will take on Rock Island at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rocks will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Champaign Central, they will face off against Normal West at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
