Baseball Recap: Lawrence Academy's Loss Ends Ten-Game Winning Streak at Home

Lawrence Academy dropped their record down to 3-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Winchendon Wapiti, falling 15-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Spartans were not able to get on the board.

As for Winchendon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Winchendon's part, Jack Cronin looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Ruggiero, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Jones, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence Academy will venture away from home to square off against Rivers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Winchendon, they will head out to challenge Phillips Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
