Preview: Ayersville Pilots vs. Stryker Panthers
The Ayersville Pilots will head out on the road to square off against the Stryker Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ayersville will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Ayersville didn't have too much trouble with Edgerton on the road as they won 52-38. Given Ayersville's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Edgerton is ranked 451st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ayersville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ally Schindler out in front who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Schindler hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Waldron, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Stryker was able to grind out a solid victory over Hilltop last Thursday, taking the game 37-28.
Ayersville's victory bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Stryker, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season.
Ayersville didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Stryker in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 39-34 victory. Does Ayersville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Stryker turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
