Recap: San Marcos Rattlers vs. Judson Rockets
This season hasn't been kind to The San Marcos Rattlers, who are still winless after their eighth game. They were dealt a 48-16 defeat at the hands of Judson on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for San Marcos in their matchups with Judson: they've now lost four in a row.
Judson was led to victory by Nathaniel Stanley and Elijah Favela. Stanley rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, while Favela threw for 281 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Davian Watson, who picked up 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
San Marcos' defeat was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.2 points per game. As for Judson, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Marcos will face off against New Braunfels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Braunfels presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than San Marcos in Texas (New Braunfels is ranked 194th, while San Marcos is ranked 762nd). As for Judson, they will head out on the road to face off against Steele at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Steele is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
