Basketball Recap: Hampton Park Christian Skates Past Oakwood Christian with Ease

Hampton Park Christian came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Oakwood Christian 71-37. Given Hampton Park Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Oakwood Christian is ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hampton Park Christian had a senior duo take command as Trevor Gearhart dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 boards and Jack Gantt dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Gearhart's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brody Miller, who posted four points and three steals.

Hampton Park Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Hampton Park Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Oakwood Christian, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.
