Softball Recap: Jefferson Area Falcons vs. Geneva Eagles
Jefferson Area won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. Their tough 21-11 defeat to the Geneva Eagles might stick with them for a while. Jefferson Area was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Geneva apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
Kennidie Rogers stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, a triple, and an RBI. Rylee DeMattia was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
On Geneva's side, Cora Brace was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanna Burton, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Jefferson Area has not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Geneva, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
