Baseball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Academy Comes Up Short

Cornerstone Charter Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Geneva Knights. If the Ducks were looking for revenge after losing 11-10 to the Knights when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Efrain Rivera put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Cornerstone Charter Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-13 otherwise.

Cornerstone Charter Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Geneva, their record is now 17-4.

Looking ahead, Cornerstone Charter Academy will head out on the road to face off against Tohopekaliga at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Geneva, they will challenge Orlando Christian Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
