Football Recap: Patrick Henry Academy Falls to Academic Magnet in First Game of Season

Patrick Henry Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 28-7 to the Academic Magnet Raptors on Monday. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raptors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Rylin Brunson threw for 136 yards on ten of 18 attempts. Diego Santana was his top target, picking up 49 receiving yards. On the ground, Luke Sobey rushed for 60 yards.

Owen George had a dynamite game For Academic Magnet., rushing for 165 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. George's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patrick Henry Academy will host Clarendon Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Academic Magnet, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Military Magnet Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
