Basketball Recap: Norfolk Christian Falls to Wilmington Christian Academy in First Game of Season

Norfolk Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Wilmington Christian Academy Patriots on Friday, falling 78-48. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Ambassadors struggled afterwards.

When it comes to explaining why Norfolk Christian lost, don't look at Ajian Skeete. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field to rack up 16 points. Another player making a difference was Christian Hines, who posted seven points and six assists.

Wilmington Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Trent Davies, who went 7-for-14 en route to 26 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Davies' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 26 points. Ryan McConekey was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Wilmington Christian Academy has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Norfolk Christian will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Oaktree Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 3. As for Wilmington Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 68-64 loss against Atlantic Shores Christian on the 15th.
