Basketball Recap: Anthony Bonfiglio Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Robertsdale

There's no place like home for East Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 74-63 victory over the Robertsdale Golden Bears on Tuesday.

East Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Bonfiglio, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. What's more, Bonfiglio posted three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Maryland, who scored 13 points and seven assists.

East Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Robertsdale's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Skyler Washington, who shot 43% from the field en route to 20 points and eight boards. Quindarius Shields was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

East Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points over those games. As for Robertsdale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Robertsdale will take on Citronelle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Central will be paying especially close attention to the Golden Bears' contest: after the Golden Bears face off against the Wildcats, they'll take on East Central again at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
