Baseball Recap: Brocton Bulldogs vs. Frewsburg Bears
Brocton had lost four straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it five. They came up short against the Frewsburg Bears, falling 16-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 on Thursday.
As for Frewsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for Frewsburg, who have now won 15 games by ten runs or more so far this season.
For Frewsburg's part, they got a massive performance out of Daniel Peterson, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Peterson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Haglund, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Brocton will take on rival Westfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Frewsburg is set to face off against their familiar foe Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bears 3.7, the Wolfpack 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
