Volleyball Recap: Genoa-Hugo/Karval Comes Up Short

Genoa-Hugo/Karval was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Hi-Plains Patriots, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-13, 25-15.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval's offense was headlined by Rylee Corn and Alexis James, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Rhegan Sitzman and her nine assists.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Hi-Plains, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Genoa-Hugo/Karval will welcome Flagler on Friday. As for Hi-Plains, they will head out on the road to challenge Fleming at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
