Baseball Recap: Lafayette Takes a Loss

Lafayette had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 15-11-1 to make it five. They lost 6-0 to the Lexington Catholic Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Generals have suffered since April 8th.

As for Lexington Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Lexington Catholic's part, the result came thanks to Jack Sams's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Sams.

On the hitting side, Lexington Catholic got a big performance out of Jake Scott, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Scott has hit this season. Owen Jenkins was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

While Lafayette had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
