Basketball Recap: Butte's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Butte fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Hellgate on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hellgate Knights by a score of 76-74. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (62), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Hellgate's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Easton Sant led the charge by going 7 for 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight assists and three steals. That's the most assists Sant has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Gillhouse, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards.

Butte's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. As for Hellgate, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Butte will host Sentinel at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hellgate, they will head out to challenge Big Sky at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
