The Northwestern Huskies will square off against the Dalton Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwestern has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Northwestern is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Western Brown on Friday. They came up short against the Broncos, falling 14-2.
Alysa Troyan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. Emma Fricke also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Dalton earned a 12-9 win over Mapleton on Friday.
Skylar Fletcher was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Fletcher was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Lily Teague was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Wenger, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.
Dalton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive contests.
Dalton's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Northwestern, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northwestern hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Dalton struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
