Desert Hills waltzed into their contest on Saturday with 15 straight wins... but they left with 16. They put the hurt on the Emery Spartans with a sharp 13-6 win. Considering the Thunder have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Sam Spencer looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Oaklee Koester and Lulu West did most of the damage at the plate: Koester went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while West scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Koester has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Haiden Brotherson, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Desert Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Emery only managed nine hits.
Desert Hills' victory bumped their record up to 20-1. As for Emery, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-8.
Looking ahead, Desert Hills will be taking part in a tournament against Gunnison Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Emery, they will take on American Fork in a tournament on Saturday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavemen have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
