Skyline hasn't had much luck against Holy Family recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Skyline not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12th (when they won 15-3). They blew past Adams City 14-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Matt Lanier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Lanier was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Skyline's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-12-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Skyline got a massive performance out of Bobby Knapp, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Knapp a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Rickman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Skyline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Adams City only posted an OBP of .364.

Meanwhile, Holy Family waltzed into their game on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Golden Eagles get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Austin Mireiter's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kaden Hopkin and Isaiah Sandoval did most of the damage at the plate: Hopkin went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Sandoval went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Brady Anderson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Holy Family pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Skyline, their record is now 6-13-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Skyline has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Holy Family struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Skyline couldn't quite get it done against Holy Family when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
