Recap: Nash Central Bulldogs vs. Southeast Halifax Trojans
The Nash Central Bulldogs couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 66-50 fall against Southeast Halifax on Tuesday. Nash Central lost against Southeast Halifax in their previous head to head back in December of 2018, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 52-47 score last time.
Despite the loss, Nash Central still got an impressive performance from Ryo Steele, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Markell Jasper, who scored 8 points.
Southeast Halifax can attribute much of their success to Jayvion Demery, who scored 18 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Travis Johnson Jr., who scored 8 points along with 5 steals.
Nash Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Southeast Halifax, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nash Central will take on Hunt at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hunt presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Nash Central in North Carolina (Hunt is ranked 63rd, while Nash Central is ranked 389th). As for Southeast Halifax, they will head out on the road to face off against Rocky Mount Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
